Nexus
Nexus was Spectrum Health’s journey to transform its care model, starting with the installation of Epic, an electronic health record and revenue cycle platform. This sweeping, culture-changing initiative improved Spectrum Health’s processes, coordination of care, and patient experiences. All inpatient and outpatient facilities across the health system’s 12 hospitals and nearly 200 care sites were involved, and more than 21,800 employees had to be informed about and trained on the new platform and system-wide careflows in less than one year.
We started with a timeline, a technical roadmap on how to get there and several key milestones. We took the literal sense of a roadmap and creatively defined a path for 21,800 people to follow. We brought it to life by utilizing campground graphics to enhance the journey through a system-wide electronic culture change. The outcome was an engaged team of passionate people that embraced the roles they were assigned, by being the leading characters in this awesome journey. The theme was carried through all communications with a playful tone on a very demanding initiative.
